Important Helpers:

Child Life Specialists are health care professionals who are also child development experts helping children and families navigate the process of illness, injury, disability, trauma, procedures or hospitalization. Their goal is to reduce stress and anxiety by promoting effective coping through education preparation and play. Connect with them in advance and during your medical journey both in and out of the hospital. Contact your hospital to connect with Child Life.
Medical Social Workers connect families with necessary resources and provide assessment and counseling for those in crisis or experiencing distress.

Financial Supports:

Insurance plans (particularly Medicaid and Medicare) may offer financial support with mileage, meals, accommodations and non-emergency/emergency transportation both in/out of state. Contact your insurance plan, pediatrician/primary care or read your State Plan of Care (Medicaid) to learn more.
